As youthful and dynamic as ever.
Coming soon to Canada is the all-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class Hatchback. This new vehicle will revolutionize and redefine modern luxury and interior design within the compact class. Its many technological advances will set new standards by including MBUX – Mercedes-Benz User Experience. MBUX is a new multimedia system run by an Artificial Intelligence which is unique in its ability to learn. Although Mercedes-Benz has kept the sporty appearance, its utility value has increased.
Exercise in purism.
The surface-accentuating design of the all-new Mercedes A-Class is the next step in their design philosophy of Sensual Purity. A new interpretation of the A-Class’s design is based upon optimised dimensions and proportions.
A revolution from within.
Mercedes-Benz has taken a brand new approach for the interior of the A-Class, revolutionizing the compact class from within with a new feeling of spaciousness. The unique interior is complemented by the unique new dashboard.
For the first time ever, the cowl on top of the cockpit has been completely removed, leading to a seamless dashboard that extends from door to door. The widescreen display screen is completely free-standing, and turbine-styled air vents represent even greater highlights.
Mercedes-Benz User Experience
The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class ushers in a new era of connectivity with the brand-new multimedia system, MBUX – Mercedes-Benz User Experience. MBUX is unique in its ability to learn and adapt to each individual user, creating an emotional bond between vehicle and passengers.
The A-Class has grown up.
The new A-Class has much more utility value, making it just as youthful as always, but even more grown up. Greater benefits have been added such as more shoulder, elbow and headroom plus easier access to the rear, as well as a larger and more family/recreation-friendly luggage compartment. Safety and impression of spaciousness have been enhanced with improved all-round visibility. The capacity of the luggage compartment has been increased by 29 litres bringing the total capacity up to 370 litres. The loading aperture is 20 cm wider than before and the luggage compartment floor is 11.5 cm longer thanks to the two-section rear lights.
New, efficient engines.
The new A-Class models are all powered by brand-new, more efficient engines. There will be three engine variants for the launch of the A-Class, or shortly after: A 200 (120 kW/163 PS) with 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission or six-speed manual transmission, A 250 with 7G-DCT (165 kW/224 PS) as well as A 180 d with 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission (85 kW/116 PS). Innovations in the M 282 with a displacement of 1.4 litres and up to 120 kW include cylinder shutoff (initially in conjunction with the 7G-DCT transmission) and the delta shape of the cylinder head. The second new engine is the M 260 with a displacement of 2.0 litres, 165 kW and 350 Nm. New features include CAMTRONIC for the intake camshaft. Both engine series have a particulate filter as standard.
4MATIC with fully variable torque distribution.
Introducing the new four-cylinder diesel (OM 608) with a displacement of 1.5 litres, up to 85 kW and up to 260 Nm. It comes with a turbocharger with optimized responsiveness, water intercooling, and a near-engine mounted emission control system with AdBlue® technology. A new 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmission is also being introduced with further new engines to follow. A 43-litre fuel tank comes standard with the A-Class with the option of a 51-litre tank. If you request it, you can also get the new A-Class with the 4MATIC system, enabling permanent all-wheel drive and with fully variable torque distribution. We’ve developed this system to be as efficient and pleasurable to drive as possible.
Suspension: agile and comfortable.
As with its predecessors, the A-Class comes with a McPherson front suspension, with the more powerful versions like the A 250 and 4MATIC models having four-link rear suspensions. Entry-level models such as the A 200 and A180 d have a torsion beam rear suspension. The A-Class comes standard with a comfort suspension with DYNAMIC SELECT and steel springs. The suspension has been lowered by 15mm and has specially configured dampers and springs to give it a sportier feel. The driver will also be able to choose their preferred damping characteristics with active damping control.
Intelligent Drive: functions from the S-Class.
The A-Class has the highest level of safety in this segment by pulling functions adopted from the S-Class, giving it the latest driving assistance system. The A-Class is able, for the first time, to drive semi-autonomously in some situations. It keeps a close eye on the traffic ahead of you, using improved radar and camera systems to see up to 500 metres ahead of you.
Part of the Driving Assistance package is the Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC, which is able to help the driver in many situations such as automatically adjusting speed when approaching sharp turns. The A-Class also comes with Active Emergency Stop Assist, intuitively understandable Active Lane Change Assist and has extended Active Brake Assist as a standard feature.
MULTIBEAM LED headlamps: optimum visibility.
We’re helping with the technology transfer from luxury to compact classes with the optional MULTIBEAM LED headlamps. These use a quick and precise, electronically controlled adjustment of the headlamps that suit the traffic conditions. Each headlamp houses 18 individually actuated LEDs, and have a daylight-like light colour for ease on the eyes. A further option is the LED High Performance headlamps. The new A-Class comes standard with halogen headlamps and integrated LED daytime driving lamps.
