Discover 4MATIC All-Wheel Drive.
4-Matic is a permanent four-wheel drive system that engages each wheel individually to stabilize the vehicle when extra traction is needed.
“We’ve all been in the situation where we’ve encountered fresh powder or black ice,” says Michael. “It’s terrifying, especially when your vehicle is unable to adapt to the change in traction.”
With 4-Matic, as soon as one wheel loses traction, the electronic traction system (ETS) removes power from that wheel, reallocating it to the opposite wheel. If two wheels on the same side lose traction, the power will be reallocated to the opposite side. By doing so, the 4-Matic system proactively propels your car using only the wheels that have a firm grip on the road.
“What is unique about 4-Matic is that this system has the flexibility to control each wheel individually. Even if three wheels lose grip, this system will use a single wheel to bring the entire vehicle back on track.”
It’s a lifesaver on wintery roads, but 4-Matic can make for better driving on dry routes, as well.
“Whether you’re taking the back roads to the cottage, or are simply going for a summer drive, 4-Matic will dig into corners, and give you sure-footed handling, even when encountering stones, sand and other debris.”
And although the 4-Matic system is powerful, it’s also unnoticeable, making for greater leg room inside the cabin, and a lighter vehicle overall.
“It’s nimble and fuel efficient,” says Michael. “Perfect for giving you confidence over the winter season and added driving enjoyment year round.”
In addition to their 4-Matic ETS system, Mercedes-Benz also counts on their specially designed wheels and tires to keep their vehicles on the road.
“At Mercedes-Benz, you won’t find a one-size-fits-all wheel,” says Michael. “Each of our models is paired with a set of wheels specially designed to complement its bodywork and design.”
The same can be said for each of Mercedes-Benz tires.
“Your tires are the only part of your vehicle that has direct contact with the road, so they should offer you the same level of performance that you’d expect from the rest of your vehicle.”
From accelerating to braking, maneuvering tight corners to reacting quickly to avoid unsafe driving conditions, your tires need to be ready for anything the road throws at you.
Mercedes-Benz has worked with the industry’s leading tire manufacturers to design their own line of Mercedes- Benz approved tires. Each of these tires has met their stringent set of specifications and has been tested for each specific Mercedes-Benz model.
“We want to ensure that you have the same superb performance and handling that your vehicle has been engineered for.”
The difference lies in the design of each tire’s treads and the rubber compound it’s made of. The mark of a Mercedes-Benz tire is found on the outside of the tire: “All Mercedes-Benz tires will say MO or MOE.”
Getting the right tires for your vehicle is key, but keeping them at their best is equally important.
“Always remember to keep an eye on your tire pressure, and have your tires filled as needed,” says Michael. “By keeping your tires filled, you’ll maximize their performance and safeguard against premature aging or damage.”
In addition to keeping your tires filled, Michael also suggests taking a proactive approach to your alignment.
“It hugely influences the suspension and operation of the vehicle,” says Michael. “Driving with poor alignment will also lead to quicker tire wear.”
If you’re not sure whether your vehicle needs adjustment, the best option is to stop into your local Mercedes dealer and have their service department take a look.
“We’re always here to help you find the right vehicle, the right tires, and the right options to keep you and your family riding comfortably through the winter season.”
